Located 6 Kilometres from Lonavala Railway Station, It is situated on the Indrayani River and is a popular spot for tourists. It was built in the 1860s and is known for its scenic beauty. While the dam is open for the whole year, it is best visited in monsoon season for its unique visuals. Though the dam can get very crowded and swimming is prohibited for safety reasons.

The dam is a masonry dam that goes up to 15 meters high and 201 meters long. Other than that, it is also used to produce power. During weekends, the dam is extremely crowded, so visit is usually recommended during weekdays or early in the morning. Visitors often sit on the steps as water flows around them, enjoy the views and take photos.

Bhushi Dam lonavala is open 24/7 but it is said that 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM is the best time to visit. It is always recommended to go during daylight hours as the night hours are usually not as safe. The area has become commercialized over the years, with vendors selling local snacks like vada pav and poha during peak hours.
